In mid-2018 Christchurch City Council will be opening Tūranga, the newest and most exciting public library in New Zealand and they are looking for the person to lead this flagship. The building will be 9850m2 over five floors and will include exhibition and performance spaces, technology suites, a media studio, creative spaces, meeting room and a café. As well as showcasing the latest technology, Tūranga will accommodate the city's largest print collection of books, including heritage and specialist collections. In a city where the post-quake rebuild is in full-swing this will be a stand-out example of world leading architecture, providing Christchurch with its digital, cultural and community heart.
Through Tūranga and the city-wide network of libraries, Christchurch will be at the forefront of new thinking, technology and experiences that contribute towards a city of life-long learning.
The role of the Central Library Manager - Tūranga will be critical to the success of this new library. The ideal candidate will lead the team to realise its potential, and showcase and connect five floors of knowledge products, services and experiences for Christchurch residents and visitors.
