Winter Holiday Reading Programme

Winter Holiday Reading Programme

Did you know many public libraries offer a winter reading challenge for children? It's a great way to brighten cold, dreary days and keep the family reading over the school holidays.

ECREAD’N Winter Warmers is one such programme which runs for six weeks June 25 to August 3. This year's theme. Climb into Reading - Piki ki te Pānui! offers a range of activities that engages kids' imaginations; writing reviews, drawing pictures, designing covers of the books they’ve been reading. Best of all it makes reading fun! Activities vary from library to library and many offer incentive prizes along the way. It is not a competition, simply a way to keep children reading and growing their language skills.

Children enrolled in the Climb into Reading - Piki ki te Pānui! receive a review booklet, which includes a map for recording reading progress.

Check out your local library to see what they are offering this winter school holiday and ensure your child keeps reading. You can find contact details here.
